Management — Single pane of glass via vSphere Client, automation, content libraries, and integration with broader VMware/Broadcom tools. It powers private clouds, hybrid cloud setups, and serves as the compute foundation for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). Current Version Status (April 2026) vSphere 8 (including Update 3i released Feb 2026) is the widely deployed version, with ongoing patches. General support for vSphere 8 is expected to run into 2027. vSphere 9 exists and is positioned as the next major release, especially as the core for newer VCF deployments. Some organizations are planning migrations from vSphere 8 due to upcoming end-of-support timelines. vSphere 7 reached end of general support in October 2025 (with extended technical guidance in some cases). Downloads, OEM images, and patches are now handled through the Broadcom Support Portal. Common Use Cases Consolidating physical servers to reduce hardware, power, and cooling costs.
